Academics and architects creating knowledge together: Building Africa’s curators’ and designers’ roundtable and closing party



We warmly invite you to our closing event on Friday 8 March 2024.

 

This event is a chance to learn more about how the Building Africa exhibition was made through collaborations between the ASA research team and architects in Ethiopia, South Africa and Ghana.

 

It brings the researchers and design teams together for the first time, to share ideas about collaboration, the processes of interpreting research, and experiences of sharing it with publics in Addis Abeba, Johannesburg, Accra and London. 

 

Friday 8 March, Brunei Gallery, SOAS

  • 3.30-4.30pm the gallery will be open for a guided tour by the curators and designers 

  • 5.00-6.30pm round table discussion between curators and designers

  • 6.30-8.00pm drinks reception

  • Khensani Jurczok-de Klerk and Aude Tollo from the Matri-Archi(tecture), South Africa and Switzerland

  • Lois Quartey, architect based in Accra

  • Julia Gallagher and Kuukuwa Manful, researchers and curators

  • Chaired by Amelia Odida
