Reimagining African Futures – ASA workshop

11 young architects, urban planners and policy-makers from eight African countries gathered in Accra in September 2022 to discuss urban challenges across the continent. They were part of a workshop organised by ASA in collaboration with the African Futures Institute.


Discussion topics included housing shortages, climate crisis, informality, inequality and decolonisation and focused on finding innovative solutions to urban challenges.

The work is being collected into a book of essays, Building African Futures: 11 manifestoes for transformative architecture (edited by Emmanuel Kusi Ofori-Sarpong, Kuukuwa Manful and Julia Gallagher), to be published in 2023.
