The University of the Western Cape, South Africa

Submission by Wanga Gambushe

Why is this your favourite building?

The University of the Western Cape was created as a university for the so called “coloured” population during the dark days of apartheid. The university became a centre of the fightback against apartheid and has continued to be at the center of providing opportunities for working class and poor students. So many have walked across the stage to receive their degrees from the UWC Main Hall.
